Behind the Scenes of A Reopening Library

Have you been anxious to get back to the library?

A little curious as to what changes might be in place for your safety, and that of the staff's, also?

We have missed seeing you @ the library!

We are planning on stepping into our next re-opening phase on Monday, July 6th, and we thought it might be a good idea to give you a short tour of changes that have taken place in the library, due to COVID-19 guidelines.

Keeping the Library Clean & Safe

First and foremost, these products that you see in the photo below have been in constant use as we have handled book returns, provided curbside service for checking out materials & office services (faxing, copying, printing), and started to provide computer usage time.

We will continue to use all these products as we open the library more for your use. You may witness us cleaning off computer areas, countertops, plexiglass, as well as frequently-used surfaces (i.e., door handles, sinks and table tops).

 the spread of COVID-19

Patron Safety Procedures

  • We ask that patrons wear masks, if they are able.
  • A hand-sanitizing station is in place by the front doors, and all patrons will be asked to hand sanitize upon entering the library.
  • Patrons will be encouraged to limit their visits to 30 minutes, and they will need to make a reservation to visit. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Using the Computers & Copy Machine

  • To allow for social distancing, three computers may be used at a time.
  • Thirty-minute time limits will be enforced, and computers are by reservation only.
  • Staff will make all copies and send scans for patrons. We ask that you let only the staff touch the copier.
  • Headphones will not be available to borrow. Patrons may bring their own or purchase earbuds for $1.00.

Browsing @ the Library

Along with curbside services and computer usage, the Linton Public Library welcomes you back in the doors to start browsing the bookshelves, also. As every good book lover knows, you just want to hold and look over every book on the shelf.

However, we will have to ask you to make a few changes to your browsing habits. Since every book and movie that gets is held will need to be cleaned, we ask that you limit picking up only the items that you might truly be interested in. If you choose not to take home an item that you held, please put the item on the cart with this sign. It will mostly be found between the adult fiction and the young adult sections.

We encourage you to limit your browsing visits to 30 minutes. This allows other people to be able to schedule browsing time, while following social distancing guidelines.

PlexiGlass Shield

As you walk in the door of the library, you will notice a big change at the circulation desk. We have installed plexiglass shields on top of the circulation desk. These are here for the protection of staff and patrons alike.

Patrons will be asked to place items one at a time under the shield, so that staff can scan the items. We will avoid touching your materials as much as possible to keep you safe.

Making Reservations

The library staff would like to keep everyone safe! To help ensure social distancing, we have established a reservation system.

Besides staff, guidelines allow us to have up to ten people in the library at one time. We have three computer spaces available, and therefore, that would allow us to have seven more people in the library to browse.

Please call ahead of time to schedule a browsing time or the use of a computer. Each time slot is for 30 minutes at a time. If you would like to come as a family to browse, please reserve a time slot for each person.

Curbside services will be for checking materials out only.

Library (& Reservation) Hours

We have missed you all very much, and can't wait to see everyone again! However, we want to do everything we possibly can to keep you safe and healthy. But, we need your help! Please do your part also to help keep Linton Public Library safe for everyone.

WELCOME BACK!  🙋🙋🙋🙋 WE ARE GLAD TO SEE YOU ALL AGAIN!!!
