Blogtastic Book Discussion: "The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek"

The staff at the Linton Public Library truly miss talking to all of our patrons about the books that we have read, or are currently reading.  As the adult services librarian, I decided to do something about that!  📚📖📚

Starting next week, we will begin a new online book discussion for the adults. I have read a fantastic book recently that I would love to share with all of you! It is called "The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek" by Kim Michele Richardson.

The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek
by Kim Michele Richardson

It is a historical fiction book set in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky and was "inspired by the true blue-skinned people of Kentucky and the brave and dedicated Kentucky Pack Horse library service of the 1930s" (from the book jacket).

Kim Michele Richardson, the author of The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, lives nearby in Kentucky, the setting of her richly told, and wonderfully researched, novel. Through Twitter and emails, I briefly told her how excited we were to start our Blogtastic Book Discussion with The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. She was thrilled to hear this, and also provided us with extra material to share with all of you.

If you click on this link (Book Woman Scrapbook), you should be able to download a Free 70 page Comapnion Booklet with historical photos, recipes and tips from the 1930s KY packhorse librarian initiative.

How to Participate in the Blogtastic Book Discussion

1.)  Check out a copy of The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson.  The
Linton Public Library has one copy on the shelves, and more can be ordered from other libraries
through Evergreen Indiana Catalog. Also, the books are available to be downloaded to your device
       through the Overdrive app.
2.)  Enjoy reading the book! The author provides a few book discussion questions at the back of the
book, if you would like to look through those.
3.)  You can leave comments here (NO spoilers, please!) at your convenience up until we have a
Facebook Event on Wednesday, September 30th (time TBA), where we will talk in more detail
       about the book.

We hope you will enjoy this wonderful book, and the additional scrapbook provided by Kim Michele Richardson! I look forward to hearing your thoughts throughout the next month, and on September 30th.  If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to call the Linton Public Library at (812) 847-7802.
